AG DAY: 9. Finishing my wreath

Tomorrow my wreath is due at school. So I had to put flowers on my wreath.

I picked flowers from my garden. They were not very many because there had been too much rain. But I used what I could.

I found tropical flowers round the house and used those too. They were called Clivia.

I soaked the oasis in water. It took lots of water.

I taped the Clivia with flower tape and attatched it to wire to make it stronger and so I could push it into the oasis. I did that with the mondo grass too.

I am proud of what I have done. I think it looks really good.

AG DAY 8: Preparing the base of my wreath

My Dad made me a wreath shape out of wood then placed my coconuts where I wanted them to go.

My Dad drilled holes with his DeWalt drill. I helped by holding the coconuts in place.

I used cable ties to attach the coconuts. We had made a hole and we put them through the hole.

My wreath is finished now on Wednesday I need to put my plants on it.

This is a video of me using my Dads DeWalt drill to make the holes in the wreath.

AG DAY: 7. Preparing the coconuts for my wreath

My wreath is going to be made out of coconuts. So tonight we washed a coconut and tried to cut it open.

First, I soaked the coconut in water to make the shell more fragile.

Next, I couldn't break the coconut because the knife was too sharp. So my mum broke it for me.

Mum got out the coconut water and the flesh. I was too scared to try it but my brother Hunter tried it. He was brave and he is only 5!

Mum had to cut the flesh out with a sharp knife.

Mummy was resilient because she didn't give up even though the coconut was really hard.

Mummy asked all her friends on Facebook if they had any left over coconut shells that I could have because it was quite hard for her. Neelam from the Dairy said she had some I could have. Mummy and I were happy that we didn't need to cut and buy any more coconuts.

AG DAY: 6. Watering my garden

Everyday I water my garden because it helps it grow more.

I don't water it when it rains because it is already getting water and it will die if it gets too much water and sun.

AG DAY 5: Planting my Plants

I dug holes to plant my Ag Day garden.

I pulled the plants out gently. My snapdragon accidental fell out and some of it snapped off. This is disappointing. I hope it can grow again.

I put the plants into the ground and gently covered them.

I watered them when I was finished.

AG DAY: 4. Buying my plants

After school today we went to buy my Ag Day plants.

A man from the plant shop helped. I told him that I was doing an "island beauty" wreath. He helped my pick plants that would look tropical and with bright colours. He said I couldn't use hibiscus flowers because the flowers wouldn't be ready in time. So he helped me choose others.  He wants me to send him some photos of the wreath when it is done.

When we got home we put the plants where we wanted to plant them. And watered them. Mum said we weren't allowed to plant them tonight as it was getting to late.

AG DAY: 3. Preparing the garden

The garden looked bad like this so we cleaned it up.

I pulled out the weeds. There were lots!

We all helped pull the weeds out.

Now the garden looks just like it did when I was little!! Really good! I am excited to plant my ag day plants in there.
